According to the WFTDA, "The Women's Flat Track Derby Association is conducting two surveys to help us learn more about roller derby audiences. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us. You could find the surveys at wftda.com/survey.
Fans, skaters, and others affiliated with roller derby are asked to provide information and opinions, which will help WFTDA and local leagues understand their audience and participants. It is your chance to voice your opinions about your derby experiences!
Surveys will be open from Feb 1 through Feb 15th.
Participants may also choose to be entered in drawings for a WFTDA prize pack!

Revengela gets lead jammer against the Ithaca League of Women Rollers
OMG can you believe it? Bout day is almost here! If you are doing
anything besides attending CTRG's season closing double-header on
Saturday night, I don't know what to do with you. First up, the
Connecticut Death Quads take on Harm City Homicide in a men's derby
extravaganza - 2011 has been a great year for the Death Quads, will
they keep up their reign of terror in their season-closing bout?
Then, your own Yankee Brutals will take on Maine's Calamity Janes -
will the Brutals close out their season with a win? You'll have to
show up to find out! Get your tickets here. CTRG will be collecting
donations of nonperishable food and/or cash for the Downtown Evening
Soup Kitchen and Soldier's Angels, so grab a can of soup (or ten) and
donate to a good cause! And (as if all this isn't exciting enough),
the November wheel toss is being co-sponsored by CTRG and the Death
Quads. The winning package includes: a mad swanky DQ tee, a
super-duper CTRG tee and two basically priceless vouchers good for a
bout during CTRG's 2012 season. Members of the Death Quads and CTRG
will pose in picture with winner and that picture will appear on the
CTRG website and on the CTRG Facebook. Enter the wheel roll and be
derby famous!

Wheel toss!
Let's play find the rollergirl! Friday the 11th, keep an eye out for
CTRG at the West Haven Veteran's Day 5K. November 18th, we'll be at
the KC101 Stuff-a-Bus food drive in Hamden from 5 to 7PM! Find a
member of CTRG and give her a high-five! Why? Because I told you to.
You're not going to want to miss CTRG's first ever Craftstravaganza,
November 19 in Fairfield! All items will be hand made by our lovely
vendors, most of whom are members or friends of CTRG! Details here.
You can also get tickets for the drawing for the totally awesome bag
handmade with love by Mama Limbs (that's the lady that raised Taryn
Limbs, if you're playing along at home) at the bout OR the craft fair!
Second prize is a 2012 CTRG season pass, yowza! See you there!

Check out this swanky bag!
OH AND DON'T FORGET TRYOUTS HEY DID YOU KNOW THAT WE'RE HAVING TRYOUTS

INFO@CTROLLERDERBY.COM FOR MORE INFO OR TO REGISTER!
Oh look, my computer is working again. As this is the last Thursday
Thighlights of the season, expect to see a lot less of Your Mom on the
internet. Unless those naked pictures I sent to Smack Daddy show up
but that will probably never happen. Right?

Faceless menace Babe Vigoda, as painted by Murphy's OUTLAW
November 12th is almost here - do you have your tickets to CTRG's season closing double-header? Get them here! And if you're interested in trying out for CTRG, email info@ctrollerderby.com for boot camp and tryout information! (Pre-registration is required for bootcamp and tryouts!)
Friday, CTRG will be out supporting our own (insanely talented) Murphy's OUTLAW, who is presenting her master's show The Women of Roller Derby at the Equilibrium Gallery in Higganum! Congrats Murph!
Saturday, CTRG is hitting up Dive Bar in West Haven - turn out for delicious drinks, fried pickles, and to rub elbows with your favorite rollergirls as they prepare for their last bout of the season. $10 says Dee Nasty shows up in a bathrobe.
And because we all know you can't get enough of CTRG, we're going to be burning off those fried pickles spinning at goGreen Fitness Monday night! (A little bird told me that some Death Quads will be along for the ride, just in case you need a little more handsome in your life.) We'll be there with Rockin' Rob from 7 to 8 PM - join us!

Your Mom hitches a ride with an unidentified Pleasure Baron at the Hooker Day Parade
November 12 is almost here, do you have your tickets for CTRG's season closing double-header? First, the gents of the Connecticut Death Quads will be taking on Harm City Homicide, in what is sure to be a barnburner! Then, your very own Yankee Brutals will take on the Maine Calamity Janes - which b-team will reign supreme? You've got to be there to find out!
Tomorrow (yes, tomorrow) come Skate with the CT Rollergirls at Rollermagic in Waterbury! Halloween costumes encouraged! Bonus points for dressing up as a hot dog!
And if you haven't had enough CTRG action, we'll be at Sonic in Manchester October 29th from 10-2! If you want to challenge Babe Vigoda to a milkshake drinking contest, now's your chance!
Oh hey check out ct.com's awesome photo gallery from our last bout! Get up close with skaters, fans, vendors and maybe you can even identify the mystery hottie you met in the stands.
AND FINALLY: Congratulations to Sabotage for closing out their season with a 169-93 win over the Hudson Valley Horrors! This has been a great season for Sab, and I, for one, can't wait to see what they have in store for next season! Go Sab!
“In the Penalty Box” segment is a new project we are working on. Skaters will be doing one-on-one interviews with their league mates at random a few times a month.
Interviewed by Paula G. Imnaughty.
Paula G. Imnaughty: When you’re not being the almighty awesome Pearl Jammer, what is your alter ego doing?
Pearl Jammer: By day, I work at a boarding kennel (think hotel for your furry friends) where I not only get to spend time caring for amazing animals, but also get to play with power tools and yard machines. LOOK OUT!
PGI: You’ve recently returned to the track and the Stepford Sabotage from an injury. How did it feel returning? What was running through your head on your first jam?
PJ: Frankly, it felt like I never left, mostly because I didn’t. I went to almost every practice from the time I had surgery to the time I was cleared to strap 8 wheels back on my feet. (My bit of advice to fellow skaters out there who are sidelined with an injury: go to practice and watch as often as you can. You will learn a TON just by watching because you don’t have to worry about actually doing. When you return to action, you will be AMAZED at how much of what you saw you can quickly implement.) The noticeable difference when I returned was how the game was being played before and how it was being played when I came back. The packs moved differently and that took some getting used to. What was running through my head, you ask? The same thing that runs through my head every time I step up to that line: “Don’t think, just go.”
What a night! The Suffer Jets spanked the Yankee Brutals with a 311-72 victory - congratulations to Kitty Bomb (who laid down the law all night long) and Mother Pucker for taking home the MVP! But Connecticut did not end the night undefeated - the All-Star Stepford Sabotage answered the age old question, "Who's the boss?" (hint: it's not Tony Danza) with a 156-109 victory over the Charlotte Roller Girls! Our own Pearl Jammer and Charlotte's Foxy Pound were MVPs! Be sure to get your tickets to CTRG's November 12 season closer, where our favorite gadabouts, the Connecticut Death Quads will tangle with Harm City Homicide in a men's derby extravaganza, and the Yankee Brutals will take on the Maine Calamity Janes. It's your last chance to see CTRG this year, so make it count!
Saturday, join CTRG as they celebrate sequins, roller skates, throwing things into crowds, and Tootsie-Pops at the Hartford Hooker Day parade! We'll be wearing the finest fashions, straight off the Xanadu runways - you won't want to miss it! Get the details here!
And last but never least, a hearty good luck to the Stepford Sabotage as they head off to take on the Hudson Valley Horrors this weekend in their last game of the season! If you're in the area, hit them up! GO SAB!!

Hold me closer, Tony Danza.

Saturday! Hide your kids, hide your wife, because it's time for another CTRG double-header! First on the docket: the Yankee Brutals v. the Ithaca League of Women Rollers! Which team will claim the mantle of the most Americana-ish? (That's not even a sentence. Whatever. Figure it out. I believe in you.) Next up, in their last home game of the season (which means you'd better show up, fools) the All-Star Stepford Sabotage take on the Charlotte Roller Girls! Fresh off their recent win over NHRD, can Sab keep up the winning streak? Also, you can count on Your Mom's mom getting buck wild at the afterparty, and trust me, you don't want to miss that. Get your tickets online, from your favorite rollergirl ($10 in advance), or for $12 at the door.

I know what I'm having for breakfast on Saturday.

If you haven't gotten tickets to our October double-header, now's the time to do it! First up, the Yankee Brutals will take on Ithaca League of Women Rollers! Then (can you believe there's more?!) it's your All-Star Stepford Sabotage vs Charlotte Rollergirls! Two games for the price of one! Derby! Beer! Cupcakes! Face-painting! Afterparty! There's nothing better. RSVP and invite your friends here!
Monday! Spin with a Rollergirl at goGreen fitness! 7pm with Rockin' Rob - don't miss out!
Attention crafters - there are only 4 slots open for our upcoming craft fair. (November 19! Details here!) If you're interested in vending, hit up rinkostarr@ctrollerderby.com for info! Don't miss out!
And in the shameless plug section, be sure to cast your votes for Major N. Fraction's band Shallow Ground, in WCCC's Homegrown contest! The winning band will get to record an EP, open a WCCC show, and get played on the radio! We all love Shallow Ground so much, so go vote for them, and then vote for them again! While you're clicking little buttons on the internet, be sure to vote for Dee Nasty herself (aka, Dee D'onofrio) in the Refuel with Chocolate Milk contest! Search for Dee under groups and vote for her - you could help CTRG win $500! (Superfans, you can vote daily, so be sure to come back and vote again tomorrow!)
“In the Penalty Box” segment is a new project we are working on. Skaters will be doing one-on-one interviews with their league mates at random a few times a month.
Interviewed by Murphy's Outlaw.
Murphy's OUTLAW: How did a classy lady like yourself get wrapped up in a sport like roller derby?
Paula G. Imnaughty: My main squeeze, Mr. Naughty (aka Paige) and I used to watch the A&E miniseries about roller derby and it was neat but I never thought much of it. A year later, I went away to North Carolina for grad school and one day Paige called me and told me about a league in CT. There was one in North Carolina too and they were very cool, but I didn’t have the time to join. When I came back home, he took me to a game and I remember thinking, “I want to do this, this is so cool!” (And to be honest, Paige gushed about Black Cherry and I got jealous! Hahaha!) My mom always teases me about how I’m always latching on to new things I want to try and I can’t ever sit still, and roller derby just became this new fascination. I wanted to be like those girls and have fun and skate the best I could.
MO: I must say you have one of the meanest most intense game faces I have ever seen in derby..... What are you thinking to yourself when you are jamming?
PG: I’m thinking “Get through the pack…you must get through the pack.” All the while, I’m observing the opposing team like chess pieces. Which ones are weaker than the others? Which ones can I move out of my way? Or the ones I can sneak by easily. I think of the times in New York City, when I’m dodging in and out of people on the streets. I laugh when people say I look mean, because I’m not thinking mean thoughts at all. My face betrays me. Or maybe that’s the real Paula coming through. She can be an angry bird.
